Why nice flowering plants are called 'weeds'?
I get this question more often than you think. Naturalists think all plants deserve a life, agriculturists beg to differ! Any plant in the wrong place is a weed and thus should be terminated!
Today I came a cross a poem by 'Ian Emberson' that speaks of the same. Here it goes ...
A weed is a flower in the wrong place,
a flower is a weed in the right place,
if you were a weed in the right place
you would be a flower;
but seeing as you’re a weed in the wrong place
you’re only a weed –
its high time someone pulled you out.
