I came to learn today an interesting fact: Chilean recent 8.8 quack had caused the earth time has been delayed by 1.26 ms per day and shifted the earth axis by an amazing 8 cm! The article also mentioned of no damage caused to the ESO project: the ALMA project, so I was interested to know more about that! [as usual, then end up spending 3 hours on one story after the other :)]
